Nutrition Tips from a 4th Grader
I went to go read to my 4th grade buddy at lunch today, and we were filling out a get-to-know-each-other worksheet. the following conversation ensued...
me: let's see here... what's your favorite food?
buddy: scrambled eggs!
me: ooh. good choice.
buddy: what's your favorite food? i know it's really hard to pick just one.
me: i know! it's a tough choice. i think i might have to go with chocolate chip cookies.
buddy: (staring at me somewhat judgmentally) um, that's not very healthy.
me: you're right...
buddy: maybe you should think about choosing something else. like maybe a vegetable.
me: how about apples?
buddy: yes. much better!
conversations with a new dentist
me (on the phone): hi! one of my coworkers recommended you guys, and i have a toothache. i'd like to make an appointment as a new patient.
receptionist: great. do you know what kind of insurance you have?
me: not really.
receptionist: hm. okay. well, we can figure that out later.
receptionist: great. and you know the location of the office?
me: yeah! 18th and 6th
receptionist: (silence)
me: ohhhh. right. the location of YOUR office. not MY office.
receptionist: umm, yeah.
me: right. why would you need to know where my office is...
receptionist: (laughing so hard at me that she's having trouble speaking) right.
me: well, as much as i'd like to attribute that comment to my toothache, i'm afraid i probably cant.
receptionist: (still laughing) can't wait to see you at 11:45.
